BWC-The Book
“Blessed with Cancer” tells the story of a young, attractive and successful business woman and mother, who discovers a lump in her breast just months after the loss of her good friend to cancer. This begins her journey through the pain of surgeries, treatments and eventual recovery as she fights for her life. Along the way, she discovers the many blessings she encounters on this path with the support of her family, friends, neighbors, the community, professional doctors and nurses, and even from complete strangers that touch her life in their own unique ways. Each special blessing confirmed what was meant to be and encouraged her every step to do whatever it took to survive and to go on and enjoy all of the best that life has to offer, and all that she has to offer to life, and to others.
Chapters
1. The Discovery – Linda tells the story of the morning she discovered a lump on her breast, and how, for a moment, the world stopped turning.
2. Taking the Steps – this chapter is about the steps Linda took to find out if the lump she had was really cancer and in finding it to be real and threatening, she prepared herself to do whatever it took to survive.
3. B-Day V-Day – this is about the day Linda went in for her last surgery and how scared she was and what it took for her to prepare herself for the day and the outcome. But, prior to entering the hospital, she had to make arrangements for her daughter, for her retail business, making sure shifts were covered, bills were paid and deliveries were scheduled, and then get her self off to the hospital.
4. Angel in a White Coat – this is the story of the doctor that identified Linda’s Breast Cancer and dedicated himself to her recovery. The story tells of the bond that developed between the doctor and patient as they fought together to beat the beast. Little did they know the beast would have to have a sacrifice.

6. Chanel, My Chanel – this chapters tells the story of Linda’s only child, Chanel, the primary reason for Linda’s determination to survive the cancer. At the tender age of 10, Chanel stepped up to do everything within her power to be there for her mom, and distinguished herself with maturity, wisdom and love.

9 The Bird Whistle – this chapter is about Linda’s dream retail business, a Pet Food Store that her father helped her start. The store became a place of distraction and healing, and led to Chanel getting her own pet Cockatiel which made a surprising announcement that set Linda to laughing and acceptance.
10 The Dress – this story is about choice…choosing to be a woman who is all woman and beautiful in every sense of the word, making a decision to go out in public with confidence and in a modestly revealing sun dress, thus choosing not to hide her battle-scarred chest, but rather to accept her scars as medals of survival to be worn proudly.
11. Who is Kay Woods? – this chapter brings Linda to a point truly outside of her comfort zone when her pastor encourages her to give her testimony of faith in front of a large congregation. On Mother’s day as she bares her soul in front of twenty five hundred people for the very first time, she realizes how very far she has come and what she has miraculously survived.
12. Faith, Prayer and the Broken Glass – this chapter is the story of how life’s challenges can feel like a floor covered in broken glass, and how every step, no matter which way you turn, creates pain and suffering, and the only relief during these times is the prayer that provides the outlet and the faith that provides the hope to get through.
Epilogue – a personal letter from Linda to the reader of her story.
